Google facing federal complaint regarding retaliation

Facing difficulties in the workplace can sometimes be hard to handle. In some instances, employees could face retaliation from their employers for certain legal actions, and those retaliatory actions could even go so far as to result in the termination of workers. In many cases, workers who believe that they were treated illegally in the workplace have options for addressing the matter.

Florida readers may be interested in a federal complaint recently filed against Google. According to reports, the U.S. National Labor Relations Board had brought the complaint against the tech giant after multiple workers were retaliated against and after Google illegally spied on workers. Google reportedly fired certain workers after making attempts to unionize in the workplace. It was noted that the company unlawfully spied on workers, including by looking into an employee’s presentation on unionization.

The report also claims that Google attempted to prevent workers from gathering in large numbers by preventing them from using the Google calendar to create events that involved more than 100 employees. One employee, who was terminated after the company claimed she breached security policy, is happy that the NLRB is moving forward with a complaint regarding Google’s actions. Unfortunately, she stated that the damage done by Google to her reputation as a trustworthy employee is already widespread and will have a lasting effect on her career.

Workplace retaliation can put current and future employment in jeopardy for many workers. As this case shows, legal action may be necessary in order to ensure the employees’ rights are upheld and that employers who take retaliatory measures against workers are appropriately dealt with. If Florida workers believe that their rights were violated by their employer, they may want to look further into their legal options.
