Time's Up seeks answers about sexual harassment guidance

People in Florida might be interested to learn that Time's Up has called out the Trump Administration for failing to include sexual harassment guidelines on the portal of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. The guidance about sexual harassment was initially written during the Obama Administration, but its publication has been delayed since that time.

Time's Up is a movement that was established by celebrities to try to bring an end to sexual harassment. The organization issued a statement following a report in Bloomberg News that the guidance on sexual harassment has been held up for almost two years. President Trump reportedly signed an executive order requiring the EEOC to have a searchable database with all of its current guidance, but the guidance about sexual harassment is not contained in the database.

The delay in the guidance is reportedly due to disagreements within the administration over how harassment of LGBTQIA+ individuals should be handled. Some people within the administration do not believe that harassment of LGBTQIA+ individuals should be treated as sexual harassment while others do. The EEOC has not commented about the reasons for the delay.

People who have experienced sexual harassment at their job based on their gender or sexual orientation might want to schedule consultations to seek Boca Raton, Florida, sexual harassment legal assistance. Experienced employment law attorneys might review the facts of what occurred and evaluate whether the potential claims have merit. If the attorneys believe that the people have valid claims, they might help them gather documents and evidence to support their discrimination and harassment charges. They may help their clients draft their discrimination charges and submit them to the EEOC or a corresponding state agency. If their clients are given leave to sue their employers, the attorneys might draft civil complaints and file them in court.
