Man files a hostile work environment suit in Florida

On Behalf of | Jan 25, 2016 | Hostile Work Environment

Working is a fact of life for most people. They have a passion for what they do and want to do it well. Your employer has to provide a work environment that is safe. This is the law. A lawsuit has been filed against a restaurant because of alleged poor working conditions in Florida.

The lawsuit says that the workplace is unsafe, with roaches in the desserts and broken glass in the food as well. The owners are the defendants in this suit, with one employee being the plaintiff who filed the lawsuit. The person who filed suit brought the problems to the attention of the owners, but they didn’t clean up or fix the problem, allegedly. Instead, they created a hostile work environment for the person who told them about the problem.

The man started working for the restaurant as a runner and moved up the ladder of success to ultimately become an assistant manager. The man alleges that he was told to reduce hours and adversely change the work stations of certain employees in order to make their work conditions so unfavorable that they would quit.

The man who filed suit also says that there was hair, wire brush particles, glass and roaches in the food. When he brought this to the attention of the manager, he was told to be quiet and just accept it. He didn’t and told the owners about it. His working conditions became untenable and he file suit soon after this.

If you are facing a hostile work environment, you may want to speak to an attorney about it. If you have proof, you may be able to file a viable suit against the owners and managers of the establishment.
