Many of our Florida readers are big fans of the popular television series “Storage Wars,” aired by A&E Network. Unfortunately for the show, one of its biggest stars, Dave Hester, filed a wrongful termination against it in 2012.

Hester was fired from “Storage Wars” in December 2012 for claiming that producers were staging the show by placing valuable items in storage units and by providing other buyers with money to afford lockers that would have otherwise been out of their price range.

After talking to the production company about his concerns, he was terminated from the show. It was at that point that he filed a wrongful termination lawsuit against the production company, Original Productions, as well as A&E Network, for $750,000 in damages.

After a judge tossed out his claims in March 2013, he was finally given the go ahead to proceed with the wrongful termination lawsuit in September of the same year.

In documents filed earlier this month, it shows that A&E settled the lawsuit for an undisclosed amount of money. A spokesperson for the station said, “There is no staging involved. The items uncovered in the storage units are the actual items featured on the show.”

Even if you are not a fan of “Storage Wars,” you can see how this scenario would pit one side, Dave Hester, against the other, A&E and the production company. While the case dragged out for nearly two years, the lawsuit was eventually settled so that all parties involved can move on. As challenging as this time may have been, it was within Hester’s rights to file a lawsuit, as he believed he was terminated without just cause.
