Minorities speak out about working in the tech sector

It isn't uncommon for people of color to make up the minority of people hired by tech companies in Florida and throughout the nation. It also isn't uncommon for women to make up a minority of employees hired by tech companies such as Facebook, Microsoft and Google. Those three companies were called out for their lack of diversity after publicly disclosing how many women and minorities worked for each of them.

Today, 2.6% of Alphabet's American workforce is black, which is an increase from 1.5% in 2012. Alphabet is the parent company of Google, and the company now has roughly three times as many workers today than it did in 2012. Therefore, some argue that Alphabet has not kept its pledge to make its workforce more diverse. Furthermore, there are complaints that minorities are not adequately represented in sales and other roles that don't require technical skills or experience.

Google says that that it has experienced some challenges in trying to increase the number of minorities who work there. However, it says that attrition rates are relatively high and that there has been some resistance from employees. One man filed a lawsuit against the company saying that it was biased against white men and conservatives. The plaintiff had posted a memo suggesting that men were better leaders than women.

Individuals who believe that they are victims of workplace discrimination may wish to pursue legal action. This may be done by obtaining Boca Raton, Florida, workplace racial discrimination legal assistance. An attorney may use hiring data, witness statements or other information to establish that a company acted in a discriminatory fashion toward an employee.
