When it comes to wrongful termination, there are questions to answer early on as well as those that you don’t need to focus on upfront.

It is imperative to understand the finer details of wrongful termination, including whether or not you were treated in an illegal manner. Once you have a firm grasp of your situation, it is easier to determine how to best move forward.

Here are several wrongful termination questions to answer:

— Were you involved in an at-will working relationship? Even if the answer is yes, it does not mean that your employer is permitted to act in a discriminatory manner.

— Are you familiar with what workplace discrimination looks like? While some wrongful termination claims are discrimination based, this is not the case with all of them.

— Do you have a clear understanding as to why your employment was terminated? It is important to discuss this with your employer, regardless of what they say, so you can get their side of the story as well.

— Are you familiar with your rights as an employee, including what you can to do if you were wrongfully terminated?

When you answer these questions related to wrongful termination, among others, it is easier to understand the process you are facing, what you should do in the future and how to get your professional life back on the right track.

You don’t deserve to be treated poorly by your employer, so it is imperative that you know your rights, as well as the law, so that you are not taken advantage of.
