National Deaf Academy facing wrongful termination claim

Many people, especially those who live in the state of Florida, have been staying current with the many allegations brought against the National Deaf Academy over the past year.

Most recently, three families filed a lawsuit against the academy alleging abuse of children and negligence. Many additional and related lawsuits are expected to come to the forefront in the near future.

This may be the most recent trouble for the National Deaf Academy, but it is far from the beginning. In September 2013, two former employees of the academy filed a lawsuit for wrongful termination. They claim they were wrongfully terminated as the result of contacting an abuse hotline to report trouble at the facility.

When you look back even further, you find that the National Deaf Academy has been investigated more than 100 times by the Florida Department of Children and Families over the past 10 years. Of those incidents, officials noted that evidence of abuse was found in 15 cases.

Furthermore, there have been 10 additional lawsuits filed. This includes a recently settled wrongful death lawsuit.

As a psychiatric residential treatment facility that provides specialized care, anybody who attends this academy expects to be treated in the appropriate manner at all times. The same holds true for employees.

For many years, the National Deaf Academy has been dealing with a variety of lawsuits related to everything from wrongful termination to neglect and abuse to wrongful death.

If a person feels they were wrongfully terminated or a victim of harassment or discrimination, he or she may want to learn more by consulting with an attorney.
